Hi Nicky,
So this is how it's gone so far...

These swim spas are infact crucial therepy for adults and children with Spinal muscular atrophy.

Go to the information website www.jtsma.org.uk and click on the "what is spinal muscular atrophy" heading. Our daughter is type 2.
It's nice to here that you will be taking over the showroom and using your past work experience in the field of caring. I'm sure it will be of an advantage to the company.

The pool has given Sophie unprecedented freedom of movement in the water and is atthe same temperature as the hospitals hydropool (36degrees). Which she gets only 30mins per fortnight with her physio if shes lucky. Sophie's physio has said that this form of physio in the pool is the best therapy for her because of the weightlessness. She wears a rigid spinal jacket all day at school and is confined to either her powerchair or her high/low wombat chair as she cannot weight bare at all and for standing she has to wear full length kafo leg braces. So the relief on her spine and joints is tremendous in the warm water.

The Ocean is big enough for her to move around and be mobile by herself with her armbands on she can swim for an hour at a time. SHE LOVES IT!!! and in turn that brings happiness to us as we know she is getting relief and enjoying herself for once in her life.

She chose to have her birthday party in her pool with her friends so she could be equally mobile as them.  blimey, I'm starting to get tearful as i write now! I have attached some photos of the spa and the hoist I fitted. Some photos of Sophie will follow as when we looked at them we realised she is naked in all of them apart from her party ones! I built the roof over the spa and the decking myself over the space of a month or so after work doing a few hours here and there. The swinging jib I bought on eBay for a £65 bargain, it can take 2 tons so should be strong enough! The hoist was provided by our OT and was used indoors before her bedroom was built which has an x-y system. The OT and the Physio have come round to inspect and were very impressed. The hoist just clips on with a carabiner so I take it in doors when not in use. Its a rechargeable battery.

All in all ive got it pretty much sorted for her now and its as comfortable as I can make it.

Kind regards
Richard Anderson.
